Quality and ethics

Our goal-oriented and efficient services are based on an insight into and an understanding of the business circumstances and interests of our clients. A high ethical standard also underpins our activities. This entails that the firm is sometimes forced to refuse assignments and it is a part of our quality assurance system that conflicts of interest are quickly identified and resolved. We place great emphasis on being a professional cooperative partner to our clients and on providing independent advisory services of the highest professional and ethical standard.

Values and ethicsIn addition to Norwegian laws and regulations, Thommessen has adopted its own internal guidelines for how the firm’s employees shall conduct themselves in areas in which requirements are made for ethical standards. We require that all our employees are aware of the fundamental principles of the firm and that they are acquainted with the ethical dimensions of the legal services we provide.

The applicable Norwegian ethical regulations were approved by the Council of the Norwegian Bar Association on 8 June 2001. The regulations are generally in accordance with the 1998 regulations of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE). The regulations form the framework for professional ethics at Thommessen. The firm’s internal ethical guidelines describe these in more detail.
