Since the development of hydroelectricity started at the turn of the last century Thommessen has been the largest provider of legal services to the electricity industry and is a permanent advisor to the Energy Norway (a trade organisation for about 260 generators, suppliers, distributors and contractors). We have Norway’s strongest practice group for renewable energy and climate law and have been awarded “Law Firm of the Year” for electricity law in Western Europe.* Lawyers in the electricity law division have published the legal textbook “Commentary to the Energy Act”.
