Thommessen lawyer appointed Vice President of the Norwegian Appeal Board for Health Personnel
The Norwegian Appeal Board for Health Personnel is the highest administrative appeal board that handles appeals from health personnel. It handles decisions regarding administrative sanctions handed down by the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision, for instance warnings or withdrawing of authorisations. The board is also the appeals body for certain decisions made by the Norwegian Medicines Agency pursuant to the Pharmacies Act (the Norwegian Pharmacy Appeals Board).
Thommessen lawyer Kirti Thomassen is appointed Vice President of the Norwegian Appeal Board for Health Personnel.

Top ranked in Legal 500 and Chambers
Once again Thommessen tops the rankings for Norway in The Legal 500 EMEA, in Chambers Global, and in Chambers Europe.

Thommessen in partnership with Alarga
 Alarga is an advocacy group with the objective of providing opportunities in the private sector for talented young people with foreign-born, non-western parents. This is achieved, among other things, through a scholarship program for students at master degree level. Thommessen will be Alarga’s first partner company within the area of law.

New competition rules for the insurance sector reduces scope of automatic exemption regime
The European Commission’s new block exemption regulation for the insurance sector entered into force on 1 April 2010. The new regulation renews (with certain amendments) the block exemption of agreements concerning joint compilations, tables and studies, and common coverage of certain types of risk (pools). In contrast, cooperation concerning standard policy conditions and cooperation concerning security devices are no longer block exempted. The changes, coupled with the Commission’s plans to closely monitor the insurance sector, mean that insurance companies are well advised to consider their business practices to ensure compliance with the competition laws.
